CCSD SECTA Gymnasium Renovation and Addition

Las Vegas, NV

61,133 s.f.

The CCSD Southeast Career and Technical Academy ranks amongst the best high schools in the State of Nevada, offering 10 different programs of study. The sports program will upgrade their existing gymnasium with a ground-up 61,133 s.f. gymnasium building with capacity to hold 1,500 spectators in the main gym. The program includes the main gym, auxiliary gym, general classrooms, weight training, dance, crossfit, faculty offices, locker rooms and concessions. The building is composed of concrete tilt-up, metal framing and custom long span steel trusses with entrances that carve into the building's mass. The building materials inside and out are resilient and durable from metal panels, finishes, wall tiles, concrete and wood floors. Large roll-up doors in the weight training and crossfit rooms open up to the exterior at the spirited north side of the campus. Natural daylight illuminates the gym spaces through continuous bands of diffused daylighting panels. At night those prominent panels glow from within, signifying the activity and presence of a special campus event.
