CSD completed the transformation and remodel of the former City of Las Vegas City Hall into the vibrant Zappos Headquarters. The interior renovations and base building improvements total 300,000 s.f. The complex comprises several structures that were built from the 1950’s to 2000. The design challenge was to transform these buildings several decades old to house the creative, high tech, young company culture with the underlying concept of creating spaces intentionally designed for collisions while providing an interior design that reflects their unique corporate culture as well as provide for an efficient and productive working environment. The functional workspace is pursuant and reflects the Zappos’ 10 Core Values:
1. Deliver WOW Through Service
2. Embrace and Drive Change
3. Create Fun and A Little Weirdness
4. Be Adventurous, Creative, and Open-Minded
5. Pursue Growth and Learning
6. Build Open and Honest Relationships With Communication
7. Build a Positive Team and Family Spirit
8. Do More With Less
9. Be Passionate and Determined
10. Be Humble
Some of the Campus guiding Principles included the concept of “Serendipity”- interaction across departments through different levels in the context of work related activities and social interaction; “Density- Mobility and Collaboration” - including indoor outdoor spaces, impromptu gathering spaces and deliberately designed collaboration and private solo workspaces, and “Adaptability and Creativity”- creating a raw canvas to adapt workspaces to changing needs in a rapid, drastic and effective way.
This project is LEED Gold Certified.
