Clark County School District, Brinley Middle School Replacement

Location:

Las Vegas, NV

143,116 SF

Size:

Brinley Middle School is the first built example of CCSD’s adaptive middle school prototype. The design supports future schools planned for 1,050 or 1,250 students while Brinley itself is targeted for 1,050. Seating, learning programs, safety, and total area were studied through two-and three-story schemes, and every classroom and learning space is designed to receive daylight.

The new school, approximately 143,000 SF, was constructed on the existing fields and play area at the current Brinley campus. After the new facility was occupied, the existing school was demolished and replaced with new fields and play areas. Phase I opened for the 2025–2026 school year, with Phase II to follow in the winter.

The program organizes sixth, seventh, and eighth grade learning centers with dedicated spaces for administration, resource materials, student activity, physical education, fine and performing arts, theater, arts and technology, and maintenance and operations.

The prototype emphasizes flexible breakout and collaboration areas around a centralized academic core and a media center. Daylighting, acoustic control, and passive security through clear sightlines and controlled access points are integral to the planning.

Major spaces such as the cafeteria, gymnasium, library, and collaboration zones are designed for visual comfort, with durable, low maintenance materials and high efficiency systems. Site planning supports a courtyard centric campus with outdoor learning, synthetic turf for year round use, and provisions for on-site renewable energy. A two way performance platform links gym and theater functions to expand programming flexibility.
