Clark County School District, Garside Middle School Replacement

Location:

Las Vegas, Nevada

150,834 SF

Size:

Garside Middle School is a re-site of the CCSD Middle School prototype, targeted for 1,250 students in an approximately 147,000 SF facility.

The new school was built on the existing fields and play area and includes sixth through eighth grade learning centers along with dedicated spaces for administration, resource materials, student activity, physical education, fine and performing arts, theater, arts and technology, and maintenance and operations.

The project also navigates a unique site condition by adapting the prototype to work around the existing City of Las Vegas Garside Pool, which remains on site. Phase I opened for the 2025 to 2026 school year, with Phase II to follow in winter.

The educational core is organized around flexible collaboration: breakout rooms, team areas, and a media center (library) support small group instruction and project work, while a two way performance platform links the multipurpose gym and theater for dual sided events.

Major spaces such as the cafeteria, gymnasium, library, and collaboration zones are planned for daylight and visual comfort. Site planning favors a courtyard centric campus that supports outdoor learning, passive supervision, and strong adjacencies.

The design calls for durable, low maintenance materials and high performance strategies including on site photovoltaic arrays, passive envelope measures, high efficiency MEP and lighting systems, and water saving measures.

Outdoor programming includes synthetic turf for year round use and a secure enclosed courtyard, with tailored acoustic treatments and passive security through controlled access points and clear sightlines.
