The World Savings Bank design committee requested a bank that was filled with natural daylight and provided views in and out. They also requested that their new accounts and waiting area be surrounded by glass. This request and a strict budget provided CSD with a challenge to provide the transparency the owners wanted while creating a facility that works well in our desert environment. The new bank was sited to help reduce solar gain while maximizing views in and out of the building. The vast walls of windows are shaded by deep roof overhangs. The color scheme and building mass adhere to the strict design guidelines of Aliante and materials such as weathering steel and cement trowel plaster help to provide a unique identity in the master planned community.
